Presented at the ASPEN 2021 Nutrition Science & Practice Conference, this poster highlights clinical characteristics of home parenteral nutrition (HPN) consumers with diagnosis of gastrointestinal fistula (GIF). The most important finding was that 82% of 140 GIF patients had malnutrition documented in the medical record, pointing to the importance of continued nutrition support upon transition to home. 70% of short term and 76% of long term HPN patients gained or maintained weight from start of home PN to the point of data collection, confirming the efficacy and importance of HPN for those with GIFs.
