Patient Safety

Patient safety is one of our top priorities at Coram, and nowhere is this more true than in our pharmacies. In each one of them, our highly trained Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians take the utmost care to create safe, effective medications for all of our patients. To this end, Coram follows strict compliance policies and procedures:

  • Coram pharmacies follow United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Chapter <797>, which is the industry standard for compounding sterile medications.
  • Coram is accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that maintains state-of-the-art, performance-based standards to help ensure safe and effective care of the highest quality.
  • Coram adheres to state-specific licensing standards.
  • Coram maintains:
    • A voluntary corporate compliance program
    • Strict procedures for our clean rooms, including aseptic technique validation procedures for compounding personnel, configuration of our clean rooms, and environmental testing for these rooms.
    • A voluntary internal operations audit program.
    • Comprehensive training and orientation of all employees.
